Astor Row, Harlem

No, this isn’t Savannah, Georgia. William Astor financed and architect Charles Buek designed these 28 semi-attached row houses that were built on the south side of 130 St between 5 and Lenox Avs between 1880 and 1883. Not only were they among the first townhouses built in Harlem, they featured a detail not ordinarily seen in New York City homes – front porches.
