A learning process

Learning points from this photo:

a) 1/320s isn't fast enough to "stop" the train from this angle

b) wait until the loco has reached the right place (or take multiple exposures)

"Western" diesel-hydraulic locomotive No. D1015 Western Champion has just passed under Chelvey bridge, North Somerset, with 1Z52, the 07:00 Solihull - Plymouth excursion on Saturday 10th May 2014. It's been many years since I witnessed a "Western" passing at speed, so I'll admit it was incredibly thrilling to hear that unique sound again. I planned to have another go at getting a decent shot when the train made its return journey later in the day, only to see the "whizzo" hurtle past as I arrived at the vantage point: learning point (c) check Real Time Trains for schedule changes right up to the last minute.
