Oct 2012 HIVE Design Jam Water

Why Water and Architecture? For those teens who attended this HIVE Chicago Network Design Jam on Saturday they discovered that water is a critical component in our built environment. Architects and engineers have water constantly on their minds when they are designing because water plays such a big role in our everyday lives.

Illinois American Water was our partner for the studio and set the stage by giving everyone a great overview about water quality and distribution. For the studio project our teens became industrial designers and created water quality and filtration prototypes, in a hand held unit that could fit in their bags. Each team presented to an outside 'investor' who would fund the next step of the project.
