Pat Filer of Stanton Wick purchased the business of Maid of Mendip Coaches owned by H G Cole , Ubley in June 1966 , and is still trading from this Old Colliery site which was purchased in the 1970s..
YYB266 was a Bedford SBG / Duple C41F , new to Enterprise, Portishead in 1957. This was one of three similar Bedford SBGs acquired from Cole. It had been withdrawn in October 1973 , but was still at the yard in June 1980.
Also in the yard are YVJ500K , HAR591G , ONK651J , SGK375L and BAA885J.
BAA885J was a Bedford VAL70 / Plaxton Panorama Elite II
C53F new in June 1971 to Hutchinson, London SE25 which was acquired from Country Kitchen Foods Ltd , Churchill in September 1979. At June 1980 it was the only one of the four coaches taken over to be repainted in Maid of Mendip livery. Country Kitchen Foods had acquired this in May 1977 to replace HAR591G which was purchased by Filers at that time.
In February 1981 BAA885J was licensed to Denis Stevens , Bristol , who had been the manager of Country Kitchen's transport operation , and now started his own business.
