Emerging Through The Mist
For the better part of the morning last Saturday, Yosemite Valley was buried under a blanket of fog that refused to budge as dawn drew near. Tom Bricker and I were up at 3 AM and had made it into the valley by 4:15 hoping to shoot the partial moon off of the newly fallen snow, but every time we pulled over to set up our tripods, the clouds would roll in again and the shot was gone. (We were also terrorized by a tow truck who seemed determined to follow us around the loop with his bright flood lights blazing in all directions, but that's another story.) We found ourselves waiting with a large cadre of other photographers up at the tunnel waiting patiently for the clouds to finally burn off to give us our shot of the valley, when suddenly our curiosity got the better of us and we set off to see what the rest of the valley looked like. After stopping briefly for a shot of the Three Brothers, we stopped at the Swinging Bridge where I took this shot of Yosemite Falls finally beginning to emerge from behind the clouds.
