Fruit fly solution?

I am trying to grow basil and cilantro indoors, (cilantro doesn't look too hot, but it still smells fragrant and we just used some the other night), but unfortunately they bring fruit flies.

 

I read that you can use apple cider vinegar with a little soap (makes them sink and drown) and put a small hole in saran wrap.

 

I did this and have drowned 5 of the suckers, but there are still more that just won't visit the little death trap.

 

Has anyone found a solution to this pesky problem? If so, please share!
