Aerial view over McNaughton Road towards Dandenong Road, showing Pyrox/BOSCH, BALM Paints, Chesebrough-Pond's and Allied Iron Founders factories, Clayton, 8 October 1956

SLV title: Aerial views of buildings and factories, possibly relating to the agricultural industry, Clayton, Victoria.

Author/Creator: Airspy (Firm), photographer.

Date: 1956-10-08

McNaughton Road is in the foreground and at left, with Dandenong Road crossing the image at top. Westall Road is yet to be built.

The Pyrox/BOSCH factory is seen in the lower half the image.

Planning for the Pyrox factory was approved by Mulgrave Shire in 1954 on a 25-acre site on the corner of McNaughtons Road and Centre Road. In October 1956, Pyrox partner Bosch took majority ownership and an adjacent site is still a Bosch facility today, This building has since been demolished.

The BALM Paints site on McNaughton Road is under construction. This is now PPG Industries and still a paint factory. Note that SLV has a similar photo, claimed to have been taken on the same date, that shows considerable building progress on the site.

The Chesebrough-Pond's building at 1940 Dandenong Road is at the top of the image and the adjacent Allied Iron Founders factory can be seen to its right.
