Pendleton Falls
Pendleton Falls, Blackwater Falls State Park, WV.
I spent the day at BWF with my friend Darren Barnes (DWOOD) hiking the waterfalls on Saturday. This was my first trip down to this WONDERFUL waterfall. After locating it on the map we had an easy hike from the parking lot, that was until the last 200 yards downhill. It is STEEP as all and slippery due to all of the ground coverage and the wetness due to the storm from a few nights ago. Darren found out the hard way, he slipped, caught himself and when he stood the branch he was holding onto broke and he went further down the hill. All-in-all it was about a 40+ft slide, it could have been much worse, but thank goodness the only thing he hurt was his pride. We discussed just how dangerous getting to some of these places are, and how some who don't hike just take these images for granted.
After our adventure we were witness to what I think is the most spectacular falls in the park. WOW! We not only shot this, but we sat there taking it in for a time too. It really is an awe inspiring place.
Today as I was putzing around the house I felt how 'Indiana Jones' must have felt (if he were a real person) when he returned from an adventure and went back to work. HA!!
**I may be in for another busy work week. So I will be around when time allows. I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL week!
