Brazos cliffs

Our intent was to visit Hopewell lake just off NM Hwy 64 but before we got there we came across this spectacular view of the Brazos cliffs.

It was obviously in between seasons, the fall colors had completely disappeared but winter wasn't really here yet either, despite the little bit of snow visible here.

But the temperatures left no doubt which season we're heading into, it was bitterly cold up there, at 10300 feet. Gloves were in order which we of course didn't have with us. I'm sure the sorry looking clump of grass that I used as a foreground was a lot more attractive during the summer, possibly "decorated" with some wildflowers.

It was more of a scouting trip and we will definitely be back at different times of the year.

Shot with SMC Pentax 24-50mm f4 vintage lens.
