Gillette Slim Twist
It’s an odd duck, is the Slim Twist (or Knack, as it was branded in the US).
It’s a standard Gillette twist-to-open head of the late 1960s mounted directly on top of the opening ring, with a super lightweight plastic handle underneath, tapering away to next to nothing. I’ve never met a razor that was balanced more towards the head.
This line was manufactured from 1967 to 1975. It really is not my era, as a collector. While I have representatives of classic Gillettes from the 1950s to the year 1970 ( www.flickr.com/photos/38722915@N04/5575122552/in/photostream ) it’s the open comb designs that essentially pre-dated WWII that interest me the most ( www.flickr.com/photos/38722915@N04/5740261632/in/photostream ).
So what am I doing with this, then? Well, I inherited this from my late father-in-law, along with his Techmatic, another plastic monstrosity from the same era. I thought the world of him, so these have a special place in my collection.
