Mountain laurel bud, NC Folk Arts craft center, Blue Ridge Parkway, SOOC

A flower bud of Mountain Laurel, Kalmia latifolia, on a bush growing at the Folk Arts Center, part of the Blue Ridge Parkway, (mile 382) near Asheville, North Carolina. There were a lot of these in bloom on the Parkway that day.

 

More beautiful, I think, at the larger sizes.
