Bradford pear buds, partly opened, with ice

This Bradford pear flower bud (which opens into several florets) got hit with a snowstorm last night, like much of the rest of South Carolina. (And other places equally important.)

Our dogwood flower buds, which aren't as far along as this, had some different damage -- a hundred or so of them snapped off under the weight of the solid water hanging on them. No blooming for those buds. Well, thank God, we've got a lot more.

More detail at the larger sizes.
