Breath of Fresh Air
A recruit of November Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, breaks the seal of her gas mask during chemical warfare defense training Jan. 21, 2014, on Parris Island, S.C. Every recruit had to temporarily loosen the airtight seal of their gas mask, exposing themselves to a nonlethal tear gas used to simulate the stresses of a chemically contaminated environment. Recruits then resealed their masks and cleared them of the fumes, demonstrating they know the proper procedures. November Company is scheduled to graduate March 14, 2014.
