Cleaning Up Tillie - one day...
This is not the original Tillie, but a tribute to Tillie that was painted on the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The original Tillie was on the now demolished Palace Amusements that was a fully enclosed amusement park that was at the heart of the action in Asbury Park. Fortunately, one of the original images was saved before facing the wrecking ball. It is now in storage awaiting a rebirth of this area and will hopefully be incorporated into a new Palace Amusement.
The image on the left is the way the tribute image appears on the Wonder Bar today (another establishment that is expected to be torn down as the area is revitalized). The image on the right is my attempt to clean up Tillie using a little (okay, quite a bit of) Photoshop magic.
Given the earlier history of this seaside community, it is a dream for many to see this place come back strong. With the efforts that are currently under way, this will hopefully become a reality in the not too distant future.
