Center-Pivot Irrigation

The heart of a center-pivot irrigation system is the well and the pump. The engine both pumps the water, and (on most systems) provides electrical power to the wheels on each "tower" so that the pivot can travel in it's circle around the field.

You can note the wellhead is directly next to the engine. By looking at the propane tank, you would guess it is a propane-powered engine (not unusual)... however, it was a diesel engine, and thus the tank must be being used as a diesel tank.

The yellow plastic tank would hold liquid fertilizer that can be pumped through the pivot.
