A Floral Salute to Nature Photography Day (LOC)

A seasonal flash of color from a historic documentation effort: the Historic American Landscapes Survey (HALS) records historic landscapes in the United States and its territories through measured drawings and interpretive drawings, written histories, and large-format black and white photographs and, as in this case, color photographs. HALS is one of the heritage documentation programs overseen by the National Park Service; the Library of Congress Prints & Photographs Division preserves the documentation for posterity and makes it available to the general public.
