Staithes, North Yorkshire

Staithes was once an important fishing base, home to locally built boats and a small fleet of brightly coloured Whitby Cobles. Now, the boats are used by local fishermen to catch cod, lobsters and crabs and some vessels offer short pleasure cruises. The tiny beach and cluster of rock pools make this a wonderful place to explore, and there are so many fossils that this area that it has been nicknamed the ‘Dinosaur Coast'
