The Lone Star
It's funny how, when you take a trip such as we did, you return with a few iconic images that stay with you forever. For us, it was the Texas Lone Star. I have always loved the simplicity and beautry of their flag, but didn't know anything about this symbol. Now we do!! And, after learning this, we saw this star everywhere we went - no kidding! Everywhere!!
This huge star sits in the courtyard out front of the Bob Bullock Texas History Museum in Austin. You can get a sense of the size by comparing it to the light posts nearby. Oddly enough, the original star design came from someone in the state of Georgia.
