This is how I usually carry my bentos, a furoshiki in "purse" format.

 

Place your box diagonally in the center of the furoshiki. Bring the front and back ends together; tie tightly. Bring up the other two ends and tie loosely in a double knot, leaving a gap for your fingers to fit through.

 

It works very well; nothing has ever fallen out.
