When Samuel Phillips showed me a photo of the Reading heritage unit going by these CPLs at Jenkins, a 12hr drive to Green Bay, VA from Chicago, the decision was made to make the drive with hopes to get a nice sunny photo of the over-shot 611 with a nice photogenic mast of position lights. Saturday failed miserably with delays, but clouded up anyway. Sunday still had a delay on the eastbound trip, but made great time heading back west knocking down the interlocking in perfect light as another band of scattered showers loomed to the west. Whether is steam, diesel, or nothing at all get your shots now of these classic N&W signals! The Blue Ridge District between Roanoke and Burkeville still has a good handful of CPLs, but replacements are not too far away... Jun 14, 2015
