Aylward, along with bpNichol, began GANGLIA magazine in 1965 in Toronto, one of the very few periodicals around in Canada at that time that would even consider publishing anything in the realms of concrete & visual poetry (& other sorts of nonlinearities). they also coëdited SYNAPSIS: a prelude & GRoNK magazine. his books include STRANGE GREY TOWN (with bpNichol, 2 editions, Ganglia Press, 1966 & 8), TYPESCAPES (1967, Coach House Press), THE WAR AGAINST THE ASPS (1968, Ganglia), WOURNEYS (1969, Ganglia), CROSSWORD (1976, Seripress) & A DARKENING SEA (197-?, Maki Press, translations of Matsuo Basho).
