Namba Shrine (2005)

The main building (honden) of Namba Jinja. Again, we can see sacred rope (shimenawa) and paper (shide).

Built as Kami-Namba Shrine by Emperor Hanzei in honor of his father, Emperor Nintoku, this shrine was originally located in Kawachi and moved sometime after the construction of Osaka Castle. It later became more famous for its sub-shrine during a time when Inari was rising in popularity in the religious community. The Inari shrine also boasted a theater of which the Bunraku Theater in Osaka takes its name.

Namba Shrine. Namba, Osaka.
