Kronborg Castle

Transformed into a Renaissance castle in the late 1500's, Kronborg is one of the most spectacular and significant fortifications in Europe. Located at the narrowest point of the Øresund, it served a strategic purpose, but is perhaps better known for being the inspiration to Shakespeare's Hamlet castle, Elsinore. Today, you can still view live re-enactments, performed daily by professional actors. If can view this, Id highly recommend it--they carry-on as if no one is there. You almost get a sense that the scenes of Hamlet are actually transpiring in the very rooms and locations Shakespeare intended.
