Classical Gas, 1 of 20
Johnnie Meier runs a private museum in Embudo, New Mexico called Classical Gas. He's a computer programmer by day and a longtime hunter of gas station memorabilia in his spare time. The grounds are crowded with old gas pumps and signs while the small two-room building houses his glass pump crowns, oil cans, and all manner of promotional items. Johnnie gave us a tour and shared his love and knowlege of gas station lore. He doesn't charge an admission, but he has a glass jar for contributions to a favorite charity. The beard, he told us, was grown specially for an upcoming Donegal beard contest.
