47 06th April 2020 Track 5 it!
I work on average 14-15-hour days on board, which I don’t mind as I pace my work load. However, every day at 09:00 and 15:00 I like to take my work gear off, sit in the mess and have a brew. The past week however there has been another individual who has started taking similar break times as me, and every afternoon he complains about the coffee. It’s either too hot, or it’s too cold, it’s not fresh, it’s the wrong bean and on and on. Today however, I had to tell him to track 5 it. It’s a very small barge we’re on, it’s difficult to find some space, and with everything that is going on in the world his daily moan about coffee is starting to wear thin. I don’t think he was too happy about it, especially when I had to explain what track 5 meant!
Today, Spain, one of the world's worst-hit countries, reported 4,237 additional cases of the coronavirus with 637 new deaths, the fourth day the daily totals declined from the previous day. The new numbers offer another glimmer of hope in Europe, after Italy on Sunday saw its death toll at its lowest in more than two weeks and its infection curve finally on a downward slope. Meanwhile, the United States entered one of the most critical weeks so far, with government officials warning the high death toll in New York, Michigan and Louisiana was a sign of trouble to come in other states. The country's overall death toll, meanwhile, topped 10,000, only exceeded by Italy with 15,887 and Spain with 13,055. In the UK, Prime Minister Boris Johnson was moved into intensive care as his condition has worsened since being hospitalised with persistent COVID-19 symptoms, his Downing Street office said in a statement.
Worldwide cases: 1,346,036
Worldwide deaths: 74,654
United Kingdom cases: 51,608
United Kingdom deaths: 5,373
Scotland cases: 3,961
Scotland deaths: 222
