Through the Viewfinder

by Jeremy Klapprodt

TtV stands for Through the Viewfinder and is a technique in which a photograph is taken by one camera through the viewfinder of a second camera. I use a digital SLR camera to shoot through the viewfinder of many different vintage TLR cameras. I will commonly use some sort of contraption between the two cameras to help block light and eliminate glare on the viewfinder. After the photograph is taken, the image is then cropped and colors are adjusted. The result is a unique photograph that reveals dirt, dust, and distortion.
