Winkie Milky Way (www.jamesbrew.com)

The Milky Way shining beautifully above Winkie Lighthouse at the Point of Ayre – If you’ve been following my photography for any time, you’ll know Winkie is easily my favourite lighthouse!!! This is a shot I’ve never tried before and too be honest it was difficult to achieve, due to the beams from the main lighthouse off to the right hand side causing massive light pollution issues in the scene. The clear window between the rotation of beams was just over 10 seconds, so that’s all I had to play with. Additionally, with this shooting angle looking directly south, light pollution from the towns of Ramsey & Douglas is an issue in the lower half of the image. Having said that, the Milky Way still looks extremely crisp and I’m really pleased how the image has turned out overall. This is actually my first true Milky Way image for a number of years, so it felt particularly amazing to be back out shooting under the stars again 🌟🌌✨
