Tower Hill - 10

Site of execution scaffold, Trinity Square Gardens.

According to legend, Britain's protector - variously said to be the mythical Trojan leader Brutus or the head of the ancient king Bran - lies buried beneath Tower Hill and so long as that remains the case the country is safe from invasion.

The hill was also the site of more than 125 executions. One famous ghost story tells of a phantom procession bearing the body of an executed man back to the grim Tower of London.
