Experiments: Aquaphonics
As part of the school practicals, an experiment with the ideology of Aquaphonics is being undertaken. Aquaponics is a food production system that combines conventional aquaculture, (raising aquatic animals such as snails, fish, crayfish or prawns in tanks), with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a symbiotic environment. In simpler words, the excess nitrogen excreted by the fish is utilized by plants when by natural process this excess nitrogen is converted into useful food in the form of nitrates and nitrites.
