ICSC at 5th RE Congress and Exhibit 2022

ICSC joined the fifth Renewable Energy Congress and Exhibit hosted by The CENTRE Philippines and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Philippines at the UP Institute of Civil Engineering last October 12, 2022. The event served as a venue for discussions among stakeholders involved in the energy transition on developments in the RE industry, specifically in terms of innovation, policy, and good practices.

ICSC energy transition advisor Alberto Dalusung III spoke in one of the deep dive sessions of the conference, which was focused on the restructuring of policies and programs to advance the energy transition. He presented the findings of the Towards an Affordable and Reliable Grid with Energy Transition (TARGET) report, which is an output of the regional initiative CASE - Clean, Affordable and Secure Energy for Southeast Asia in the Philippines. ICSC partnerships and advocacy advisor and CentRE chairperson Francis Joseph Dela Cruz also provided the introduction during the plenary session.

ICSC also set up a booth featuring the organization's work with CASE on the energy transition in the region, as well as the work of RE-Charge Pilipinas - in particular, the Solar Scholars program and empowering local communities on integrating renewables in disaster risk reduction and humanitarian response. Displayed on the booth is the Mission portable solar power system from POWER 4 ALL, along with the #TekPaks, a solar-powered portable device that can be used by communities to provide light, charge mobile phones, and power small medical equipment during disasters and blackouts. Over 500 cycling enthusiasts and volunteers across the country joined the June Bicycle Count, an initiative that counts bicycles and pedestrians in different cities in the Philippines (Iloilo, Cebu, Mandaue, Naga, and Davao) to help establish baseline data indicating the number of Filipinos using bicycles for daily transport.
