Basiliek San Nicola (explored)
The Basilica di San Nicola was founded in 1089 and is the final resting place of Saint Nicholas. Originally, Saint Nicholas was buried in the Turkish city of Myra, but in 1087 the relics of Saint Nicholas were transferred to the Basilica di San-Nicola. Saint Nicholas is the patron saint of travelers, sailors and merchants.
The facade of this church is somewhat reminiscent of castles. The transverse arches and the nave of this church were made during the 15th century. Due to an earthquake, restoration work had to be carried out on this basilica. Inside this church, there are spiral staircases and aisles that lead to the relics and the crypt of Saint Nicholas.
