Wipeout!
I thought of the famous 1960s instrumental when I reviewed this picture in my camera. I was at Windansea Beach in La Jolla, California with my wife and daughter, and decided to take pictures of some boys surfing a short distance away. They were all very cooperative and expressed interest in seeing the pictures, which I told them would start becoming available in a few days. I was unable to review any of the images at the time because of the bright sunlight, but I did so later and was tickled with the results. I had never photographed surfers before, but it occurred to me that it was exactly the same as my dance photography except that the light was obviously much better on the beach than it usually is on the dance floor; otherwise, it was simply a matter of anticipation and timing and capturing the moment.
