Eilean Donan Castle # 1

Eilean Donan Castle in Scotland was founded in the 13th century and in the early 1700s it was owned by the MacKenzie Clan. Their involvement in the Jacobite rebellion led to government warships bombarding the castle in 1719 which resulted in its destruction. It was restored in the early 1900s. The castle is located on a tidal island alongside the A87 to the Isle of Skye and this photo was taken in autumn and at low tide. . . . .Sigma 18 -200mm f3.5 -6.3 DC OS HSM
