Old and Brown

The Belfry of Bruges is an 83 m high medieval bell tower in the center of Bruges, Belgium.

 

The American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote a poem about the checked history of the belfry:

 

In the market-place of Bruges stands the belfry old and brown;

Thrice consumed and thrice rebuilded, still it watches o'er the town.
