Slanted
Rocks in the Alabama Hills, Lone Pine, CA. The rocks in the Hills are geologically related to the Sierra Mountains but are a separate formation. These are Metamorphosed volcanic rock and are 150 to 200 million years old. It always amazes me in the West looking at all these different rock formations and learning of their history. Blows me away thinking that these rocks have been here that long and probably will be for another 200 million years after we are long gone.
When we travel along the byways out west I use the roadside geology series of books. There is one for every state. Each major interstate and US highway is covered by the mile markers of the road. As you travel you can read about all the geology you see.
