Il teatro massimo Vincenzo Bellini.
Intitolato al noto compositore catanese, esso fu progettato da Andrea Scala nel 1870. Nonostante le incertezze economiche, fu approvato il progetto e lo Scala, insieme all'architetto milanese Carlo Sada, potè iniziare i lavori. Appena dieci anni dopo la società che si incaricò delle spese finì in liquidazione. Subentrò dunque il comune che impose modifiche al progetto ed in sette anni fu pronto. Fu finalmente inaugurato il 31 maggio del 1890 con l'esecuzione della "Norma" di Vincenzo Bellini.
The Bellini Theatre.
Named after the famous composer from Catania, it was designed by Andrea Scala in 1870. Despite the economic difficulties, the design was approved and Scala, with architect Carlo Sada from Milan, was able to begin to build it. Just ten years later the company was cleared. The municipality of Catania followed, but imposed modifications to the design and in just seven years it was finished. It was finally opened on May 31st 1890, with the performance of "Norma" by Vincenzo Bellini.
