PCS Picket

On my days off, I like to go and find other people who aren't working, then stand outside their workplaces with them convincing other people not to go to work either. Global capitalism doesn't stand a chance.

On a more serious note, as part of the nationwide assault on public services, the UK government is cutting 10,000 civil service jobs nationwide, to free up £40billion for a new generation of nuclear weapons that they swear they'll never use, plus untold billions for PFI projects and similar handouts of tax money to their rich cronies. In wellingborough, this plundering of the treasury means that 70 jobs will be lost, and anyone needing help with their tax return will have to travel 30 miles to leicester to use the already overstretched tax office there (which is also taking cuts).

Interestingly, the methods used by the first generation of post-independence african leaders to enrich themselves whilst destroying potentially prosperous economies, at great cost to their subjects, bear far more than a passing resemblance to the methods by which our leaders are now pouring public funds into ill-advised "private finance" schemes full of overspends and accounting irregularities.

Also, the world is going to end.
