Friendly Media

Returning to our tents (just out of shot to the left), we noticed a camera crew who were not only setting up to film the camp, long after Media Hour, but also had people inside the boundary fence. Bouyed from the picket line and our early victory over the Daily Mail, we wandered over and I dropped a heavilly-laden question ("oh, is it still media hour?" or somesuch). We were well up for some harrassment, but fortunately a guy standing around watching - who I'd assumed was part of the crew - intervened.

"It's ok, they're Al-Jazeera." He explained.

"That's ok then," we replied, "anyone who gets bombed by the USAF for reporting the truth is alright by us."

And they even warned us nicely before doing a pan of the site, so that we could hide our faces if we wished.

In august 2007, people from all over the UK gathered to protest plans to add a third runway to heathrow airport. Heathrow already produces more CO2 than most countries, and adding more flights at a time when climate change threatens the entire planet is nothing short of madness.

We were joined by locals from the village of Sipson, which is due to disapear under the new runway, with little compensation or consideration for the displaced residents.
