Vesuvius Lava Flow

A lava flow from the 1944 eruption of Vesuvius. The fkow occupies a depression between the main cone of Vesuvius and the outer caldera of Monte Somma which formed the main volcano prior to the momentous and devastating eruption of 79 AD which destroyed Pompeii and Herculaneum.
