Siwash Rock
I took this shot of Siwash Rock whilst I was wandering around Stanley Park in Vancouver. About 32 million years ago magma was forced to the surface through a fissure in the Earth's crust creating the basalt stack, which is more resistant to erosion that the softer sandstone cliffs.
Siwash Rock stands only about 10 feet away from the shore, so it's actually quite hard to get a decent composition without any shoreline. My original shot had a tanker moored out in the distance, but I decided to take it out - perhaps I'll post that shot another time!
More subtle processing on this one compared to some of my recent shots!
