BNSF 796 on WC - 4/24/2001
A combination of early snow melt and heavy rains along the Mississippi River caused flooding out in the area of the Wisconsin/Minnesota border during the spring of the year 2001.
As a result, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway found it necessary to detour many river line trains destined for Chicago over the Wisconsin Central, these moves lasted almost a week.
This photo taken on the WC near Colgate, Wisconsin is BNSF train V-PTLMCI5-21 (I may be one or two characters off on the symbol) with a C44-9W and a pair of BN SD40-2s leading this vehicle train detour. – April 24th, 2001 ~~ A Jeff Hampton Photograph ©
