Khichda

Khichda, a Muslim dish supposedly a pain to cook it at home , it is not a happiness meal, mostly Khichda is synonomous with Moharam the Iranians Mumbaikars the Shias actually place it as a dish that is always there after a majlis.

On Ashura 10th day of Imam Hussains Martyrdom Khichda is served after Fakke Shikani, a fast unlike the Roza ..the Roza is a happy times fast .Fakke shikani is an enforced fast .

This is Khichda sold at Rs 5 / a plate actually a saucer , it is steaming hot , the guy adds a bit of corriander leaves some ghee droplets for taste,it is pungent , here at Bori Mohalla a predominantly Foodie land .This Khichda is made from mixed cereals and chunks of soft veal .

At Bandra where I stay they have a chicken variety a mutton vaiety sold at Jeff Caterers.

Khichda served on Ashura at Moghul Masjid or Fatawat Imambada is totally out of the World...

Khichda

Recipe #85989

This is a rich dish which is a meal in one as it is a tantalizing thick stew made with meat, wheat and a whole array of lentils.. Prepared normally by Muslims, I have posted this in response to a request by a friend. From a website - I copied it a while ago. Preparation time and servings approx as this is a recipe I have not made.
