What are you doing?
The black cop asked me "what are you doing?" it seemed pretty obvious, to me at least, what i was doing. Taking pictures, when he asked why. I told him I was was a photographer. Which really is anyone with a camera taking pictures. He then asked my name, and suggested that I ask people before I take their pictures. I explained to him, that since my aim was to take candid unposed shots this would not work, and I was under no legal obligation to ask anyone walking on a public street if I could take their picture. He told me i would get a better reaction if i asked, I don't think he understood what i was telling him at all. He did say that he did not want his picture taken and if anyone asks me not to take their picture, unless they are famous, i stop, especially when they are armed. I just can't help feel there was a basic lack of communication between us, and for me, this off pissed me, but cops you know?
