The Accolyte of Death and the Lord of Destruction (DC vs Marvel Round Two)
I recently re-read Marvel vs DC. it's a fun read, a bit saggy here and there but at least I finally got my wish granted to see both universes mixing and matching, even if under the most flimsy of storylines. But hey, we got Amalgam out of it, who saw that coming eh?
At one point, these two classic villains meet, trade insults and begin to throw down and then....nothing. We never get to see them go to town with each other and that really annoyed me, I mean, Thanos and Darksied fighting? Who WOULDN'T want to see that!?
So I had to rematch them.
Thanos was a must buy since I found out he was available. Sure, he's a Select figure which makes him a wee bit bigger and less articulated than the Legends line, but I'm used to shooting with DC Direct which have about 3 points of articulation if you're really lucky. That said, he's pretty well articulated anayway. My one small complaint is his eyes, they're white on this figure and I don't ever remember Thanos having anything but black eyes, small gripe. His size works to his advantage anyway, you want Thanos to tower over all the rest of the Legends figures. But going up against Darkseid was a different story.
I had almost resigned myself to buying the Superman/Batman Turner version of Darksied until the Mattell version came out. I'm not big on Turner, I wasn't keen on his take on stone-face, but the Mattell version is just the ticket.
My one complaint is that he's a wee bit on the, well, wee side. He's not much taller than the Mattell Superman and waaaay smaller than Thanos, so some dodgy 'forced perspective' was employed to give him a little more oomph in this pic. And Thanos is stooped too!
What an excellent pair of figures!
And yes Super King, you do get what you were hoping you would get with a Thanos figure, but I'm saving that for later!
