Something New In Garden Design

After my recent collage featuring old growth stumps and how new trees and bushes grow out of them www.flickr.com/photos/enjoy2010/4741532730 I found an article in the paper about planting old rotting cedar, fir and hemlock stumps to make a garden focal point. The article said for those who don't have a rotting stump on their property one can be brought in!

Plants suitiable for growing in stumps are: huckleberries, rhododendrons, ferns and Japanese maples.
