Sant'Agostino Convention Centre

 

The Convention Centre, managed by Cortona Sviluppo S.r.l. on behalf of the Municipality of Cortona, it is located in the former convent of Sant'Agostino, annexed to the church of the same name. The construction of the complex dates back to the mid-13th century and is located in the historic centre, within the walls of Etruscan origins.

 

All the main tourist attractions of the city are within walking distance, the Town Hall, the two Museums (MAEC and Diocesano), Via Nazionale (the shopping street), the Signorelli Theatre and the public gardens of the Parterre. The convent consists of a large square-plan building organized around a cloister decorated with 29 frescoes with episodes from the life of St. Augustine. Since 2008, the centre has been equipped with a new and extraordinary hall: the Auditorium Chiesa di Sant'Agostino, with a total capacity of 300 seats, which is housed in the homonymous church dating back to the 13th century.

 

Skilfully renovated and equipped with the most modern technologies, it is a multipurpose space, suitable for exhibitions, conferences, cultural and technological events. The center has 10 rooms, which can also host meetings for small groups and are all equipped with broadband internet connection, audio and video systems, exhibition spaces outside the rooms.

 

The entire convention centre has a total capacity of over 600 seats and continuously hosts major Italian and foreign institutions including the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa, the Tuscany Region, the University of Florence, the Sapienza University of Rome, the University of Naples, University of Canada, Feltrinelli Foundation, Italian Genetic Association, Tuscan Sun Festival, Democratic Party.
