Udo lighthouse
The main lighthouse of Udo (the one with the red dome), atop the Udobong Peak. This grassy hill at the south side of Udo, which is also the island’s highest spot at 132.5m, is part of Udo’s maritime park and, providing an excellent view over the whole island, is a popular tourist spot. The lighthouse has been in operation since 2003, when it rendered the white lighthouse seen on the left inactive, after 97 years of operation.
A lot more information, about a lot more lighthouses can be found at www.unc.edu/~rowlett/lighthouse/, an amazing lighthouse directory maintained by Russ Rowlett, an adjunct professor of Mathematics at the University of North Carolina, with the help of a large community of lighthouse enthusiasts.
