Really Close Eagle (20120611-144811-PJG)
Yesterday, we received 1.5 ft or 45cm of fresh snow in 20 hours. The city courteously left me snow banks of 5 ft or 150 cm in my sidewalk and driveway. I really can't wait for spring or summer so I can get out tromping in the woods looking for eagles, so I guess I will have to be satisfied for the moment looking in my archives.
This American Bald Eagle caught me by surprise back in 2012 on one of my excursions, hence the clipped wingtip. They definitely know how to hide and surprise in the wild.
Note: In case one is wondering of the brown hues on the head and the tail, these bald eagles tend to fish the Petitcodiac River, which has nickname of the Chocolate River, due to its color.
Taken in Albert County, New Brunswick, Canada on 11 June 2012.
