Things Most Overlook...
Since I've gotten so much more involved in photography I have realized I notice things I would have previously overlooked. I'm constantly looking at light now. I will often regret not having my camera with me while I'm out on a run or a bike ride. Such was the case with these Prickly Pear flowers. I passed them during one of my lunch time runs and noticed lots of bees pollinating the flowers.
"Oh, that would make for some cool macros!"
I was motivated enough to return after work and take some shots. I mentioned the plants to my other runners once we got back to our finishing point only to receive, "Huh? I didn't even notice them."
For those of you who don't live in a North American Desert, the fruits of the prickly pears are edible (as are the pads/leaves). Both are rich in soluble fibers. Just be careful when picking the fruit, because even they have very tiny spines.
