Vehement

 

I reworked this classic image of a terrifying lighting bolt captured on the eastern plains of Colorado. Many think they are safe near the edge of the storm, but in reality this is the most dangerous area, as this image attests to. I was photographing lightning in the distance feeling relatively safe, when suddenly I was blinded by a flash of light, and deafened by the crack of the bolt just above my head. I could feel the heat as the electricity narrowly changed it's path to spare me, finding another target across the field.
